No one wants cracked and dry feet. So, if you are sick of looking at your cracked skin, and want to rid yourself of the uncomfortable sensations they create, we recommend using coconut oil. With dry and cracked feet, hydrating lotions just won’t cut it. You need something much more powerful!

Coconut oil is a great natural remedy for a number of skin issues. In this post, though, we will talk about using this sweet-smelling oil on your feet. The rehydrating properties of coconut oil are hard to beat.

What’s the Difference? Virgin vs Refined Coconut Oil

The taste and aroma of Virgin Coconut Oil are two distinct differences. Virgin Coconut Oil (unrefined coconut oil) has a tropical, delicious aroma and flavor. Refined Coconut Oil, however, is more neutral in flavor and scent.

What should I look for when buying coconut oil?

It’s easy to verify that you are buying high-quality coconut oil by ensuring it is organically certified and non-GMO. Next, verify that Virgin Coconut Oil has been cold-pressed and made without hexane. It also must not have been deodorized, bleached, or sprayed with any chemicals. It is important to verify that the oil has not been steam-refined.

Why Should You Soak Your Feet In Coconut Oil?

Coconut oil is used in a multitude of skincare products all over the world. This natural ingredient is effective and healing for the skin. So, it is no wonder that it can help reverse the damage of cracked feet. Still, how exactly does coconut oil reach deep into the skin of your feet?

When coconut oil is applied, it helps keep moisture locked into your lower extremities. These moisturizing effects reach multiple layers of your skin, and they also get rid of dead skin. In addition to making the outside of your feet look good, coconut oil also goes into the epidermal layer of the skin.

The oil strengthens and improves the deeper tissues of your feet. This is why it can be so effective when you soak your feet in this natural liquid.

How to do a Coconut Oil Foot Soak?

To do your coconut oil foot soak, you will have to gather a few ingredients. You can modify your foot soak recipe any way you want. But here, we will give you a basic idea of what can go in your soak.

1. Get Your Ingredients

To make a relaxing foot soak, you will need coconut oil, bath salts, and warm water. You can also add in other nice smelling essential oil like peppermint or tea tree if you want. Gather up these ingredients, then get a big enough tub to put them in and mix them. Also, grab a towel for yourself so you can dry your feet later on.

2. Find a Good Spot to Relax

Get your ingredients, then find a good place to have your coconut foot soak. You don’t want to be interrupted or disturbed as you try and relax. Not only do you want to heal your feet, but you want to take this time to destress. So, find the quietest place in your house and set up your foot soaking ingredients.

3. Mix You Coconut Oil Into Your Tub

Once you have everything you need, fill up your foot tub with warm water, then begin putting in your coconut oil and bath salts. Mix all the ingredients in well so the oil melts down properly. You want around a fourth of a cup of your bath salts and a few tablespoons of coconut oil.

4. Put Your Feet in and Sit Back

You should keep your feet in the tub for a good amount of time. We recommend doing your coconut foot soak for around twenty to thirty minutes. This will leave you with the best results. Soaking your feet for only a few minutes won’t do much. So, make sure they are submerged for the full twenty to thirty minutes.

5. Dry off Your Feet

After you are done with your soak, you can dry off your feet. Some people choose to put a few extra drops of coconut oil on their feet as well. You can rub the oil into your skin after the soak if you want extra moisture. But this is an optional step.
